Spending six days in the Orlando can be both fun and a bit of a challenge. With so much to do, how will you create an itinerary? What if the parents want to see one attraction and the kids another? How will you decide what to do? Simple. Do your research. Once you find out which theme parks and attractions exist, it will be much easier to pick and choose what you want to do. Here are some sample vacation packages that you may want to look into:

Six Days at Disney
If you are coming to Orlando solely for the Disney experience, this is a package you will want to check out. With a six-day, park-hopper ticket with Water Park Fun & More options, you will be able to visit all four major Disney theme parks as well as the two water parks. And you can come and go as you please. Start the morning with a nature walk at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, cool off on the water slides at Typhoon Lagoon, and then have a delightful dinner at one of the country’s in the World Showcase at Epcot. Spend another morning having breakfast at Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom, soak in the Florida sun at the Blizzard Beach water park and then see some behind-the-scenes magic at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. However you choose to break up the days, you will have the option to see all that Disney has to offer. And if you stay at a Disney resort you will have the chance to experience perks like shuttle service to Disney parks, on-site Disney gift shops and even some character dining options. For the ultimate Disney experience, don’t forget to stop by Downtown Disney too, where you can visit Planet Hollywood for lunch, catch a live performance at House of Blues, buy some Disney souvenirs and then go dancing. This package allows you to do it all.

Disney and Universal
For visitors who would rather break up their vacation a bit and see both Disney and Universal parks, you may prefer a package like this. Mix and match ticket options so that you can see all four Disney parks, the two Disney water parks and Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. A package like this will provide you with endless entertainment. And you can choose to stay at a Universal resort or a Disney resort for convenience. After you spend your days at the theme parks you can also take advantage of the nightlife at Universal’s CityWalk and at Downtown Disney. Each offers a unique variety of fun—specialty shops, fine and casual dining, entertainment and more.

Ultimate Variety
Guests who wish to see all of Orlando’s major theme parks will love this vacation package. With a two-day, two-park admission to the Universal parks, a three-day, park-hopper ticket to all of the Disney parks and one-day admission to SeaWorld, you will experience all of the variety offered at the major parks. Spend a day with Shamu and check out the penguin exhibit and SeaWorld, spend a day at a Disney water park, one going around the world at Epcot and one riding coasters at Islands of Adventure. Mix up each day however you wish. And take advantage of CityWalk and Downtown Disney as well as tourist hotspots like the International Drive area.

So depending on what you prefer to see, there is an Orlando vacation package that is perfect for you.

My husband was sharing with me the other day about a fairly new concept for booking a vacation to Orlando. Most people book their theme park tickets and Orlando hotel or vacation home separately from one another, but their a few select companies out there that will combine your accommodations with your Orlando theme park tickets into one convenient Orlando vacation package. It truly is one stop shopping.

The theme park tickets that you purchase can be to the Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Epcot Center, Universal Studios Orlando and Sea World Orlando. You can purchase tickets for both adults and children and you have plenty of multi-day ticket options. Now, when it comes to accommodations, you can select either a vacation home, condo, villa, town home or hotel in the Orlando area. All of the accommodations are pretty close to the theme parks. Some are just about 5 or 10 minutes away from them.

What’s great about purchasing an Orlando Vacation Package is that when you combine your tickets and lodging, you get them at one low price so it really does offer your family the best option for saving money on your Orlando vacation.

This event will truly provide everyone with some very special memories this holiday season.

The hours for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are 7:00 PM to 12:00 AM. Tickets for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are roughly $50 per person, and special wristbands are issued to guests attending the holiday celebration. Those who do not purchase the ticket must leave by 7:00 PM.

It seems that the two largest theme parks in Orlando, Florida are competing for attention more than usual this year. You can’t avoid the news lately. First we hear that Universal is coming out with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure. With billions of Harry Potter fans around the world, this new attraction is destined to be a big hit among park-goers. Opening next Spring, people all over the world are waiting in anticipation to be among the first to experience the Harry Potters films in person.

Next, we learn that Disney has purchased Marvel. Well, everyone knows that Universal Orlando has Super Hero Island at Islands of Adventure, which features Marvel characters. This section of the park contains rides and attractions with Spiderman, Hulk, and X-Men. So, the Disney purchase of Marvel is bound to affect Universal’s park in some way.

Then last month it was announced that Disney will be expanding and improving their Fantasyland, part of the Magic Kingdom theme park. This announcement has earned mass and expected appeal from little girls, because of the focus on Disney’s princesses. But little boys and adults alike are also looking forward to the new “land.” New rides and attractions, plus improvements to some existing ones promise to boost attendance of people who have “done Magic Kingdom” before and thought they wouldn’t be interested in going back for a long time. Well, Disney has given the world reasons to visit again- soon.

All of these changes do breed competition among the big theme parks of Central Florida, but this only means good things for tourism in the area. It poses a dilemma for people who do not live in the Orlando area, though. Some who travel here will be forced to choose between the parks, but since they’re opening the new attractions years apart from one another, it may be the best scenario for the Orlando area. Hopefully, people will rush to Universal when the Harry Potter park opens and then rush back to Orlando when Disney’s made its changes to Fantasyland. We Floridians say, “Keep ‘em coming!”

Disney Vacation

Fall is a great time for your Disney Vacation in Central Florida . One of the main reasons is that it’s not tourist season, which means smaller crowds at the theme parks, shops, and beaches. Fewer visitors in the area means fewer hotel rooms are being occupied. All of this results in lower prices for you! Between September and Thanksgiving, hotel rates can drop as much as 20% in any given year. Add in the fact that the economy has left many people without jobs and you have even fewer travelers than in usual years. Hotels reduce their rates in order to entice people to stay there. This is definitely a good time to get away to Orlando.

The Florida Fall is very different than Fall in most places. The temperature and humidity drop significantly, meaning outdoor activities can be experienced very comfortably. Golfers can enjoy a few more months on the course, unlike in colder climates, where the clubs get packed up in September. This is also true for fishing, hiking, biking, you name it.

Reduced lodging costs provide you with the opportunity to visit all the attractions, not just one of them. Treat your family to all four Disney parks- Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. Then spend a day at Universal. You’ll save so much in hotel costs that you might even make this the year to make the short drive to Tampa and spend a day at Busch Gardens. This year can truly be the year that you and your family can take the Florida vacation of your dreams.

This week, Walt Disney World announced plans to expand Fantasyland in Orlando’s Magic Kingdom. The Fantasyland part of the park will nearly double. One major focus of the expansion are the Disney Princesses. Instead of just passing moments that children get to spend with their favorite princesses, like Cinderella, Belle, and Ariel, they will get to interact with them much more than ever before at any Disney park. New castles, chateaus, and cottages will be constructed, which visitors can walk through. There is also a new ride planned in the theme of Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid.

One of the great things about visiting Disney parks is “living” the stories that we all loved as children. The adoration of the Disney princesses has grown immensely in the past twenty years, but there was little to allow us to experience the stories first-hand. This new expansion will change that. And it is not only going to appeal to girls. Some of the most infamous villains will also be involved, which expands the appeal to boys, too.

I think this is a good move on Disney’s part. With Universal opening its Harry Potter World next year, this Disney expansion will be one more reason for people to travel to the Orlando area, which is good for tourism, which is good for the economy. We’ll have to be patient, though. The improvements are scheduled to be complete in 2012 through 2013. In two to three years, it will be like a whole new Disney World, so even those who have visited recently will want to visit again. No wonder we want to keep going back. The Orlando theme parks just keep expanding and updating, drawing us back year after year.
